INGROWN HAIR AND POOR SHAVING TECHNIQUE

INGROWN HAIR AND POOR SHAVING TECHNIQUE

Shaving is the most basic form of removing unwanted hair. It’s very easy to do and you can shave anywhere you want, with or without a mirror. Majority of us use a razor, others use an electric shaver that serves the same purpose. Though shaving isn’t difficult to do, improper technique can lead to problems like ingrown hair.

Ingrown hairs occur when a hair strand grows within a hair follicle. These are obviously seen as pink, red or black dots on your skin where you usually shave. Ingrown hair is very common in African Americans because of their curly hair.

When shaving there are times the hair is cut at an angle leaving a sharp tip. This occurs because of a worn out razor or when the blades are too dull cut hair properly. In some cases, especially when hair grows out at an angle, the hair is also cut the same way. As the hair grows, the sharp tip could stab at the walls of the hair follicles, as the hair continue to grow the hair shaft bends and delays the hairs extrusion from the follicle. This delay causes sebum to accumulate, creating a plug. At this point the hair can no longer grow out and continues to grow within the hair follicle. Sometimes these can be very painful and can get infected. This could lead to a condition called pseudofolliculitis barbae. If left unattended, the infection can get worse and can cause ugly scarring.

It is very important to treat ingrown hairs before an infection occurs and the best way to do this is to use a mild herbal based ingrown hair treatment like Kalo ingrown hair remover. Kalo uses a plant extract to replace salicylic acid for milder and safer skin exfoliation. With Kalo, you are sure ingrown hair are removed safely.
